CHICHARITO LEFT OUT OF MEXICO SQUAD

LA Galaxy striker Javier Hernandez also known as Chicharito has been dropped again from the Mexico squad following the announcement made by manager Gerardo Martino earlier this month ahead of the World Cup 2022 qualifiers against the United States of America, Honduras and El-Salvador during the current international break.

Javier Hernandez was not part of the last Mexico squad for the World Cup qualifiers in January/February and he was also left out of the 29-man Mexico squad for the final three World Cup 2022 qualifiers in the final round as far as the 2022 edition in Qatar is concerned.

In the absence of Javier Hernandez, Mexico has been able to move a step closer to Qatar 2022 with one win and one draw from the first two of the final three qualifiers. Mexico played hosts to the United States of America in the first of the two qualifiers with the two teams playing out an eventful goalless draw. In their second World Cup qualifiers this month, Ajax Amsterdam midfielder Edson Alvarez scored the winning goal twenty minutes from time in what was the only goal of the game as Mexico secured a 1-0 away win over Honduras. As things stand on the standings in the final round of the Concacaf region, Mexico need just a draw at home to El-Salvador to clinch a place at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament.
The omission of Javier Hernandez from the last Mexico squads is a surprise especially considering his red-hot at LA Galaxy. The striker has two goals in his first four games in the new MLS season, while he has 17 goals plus three assists in 21 matches from last season’s MLS campaign.
Ahead of the unveiling of the latest Mexico squad for the World Cup 2022 qualifiers, Mexican football legend Jared Borgetti advised Gerardo Martino to start Chicharito ahead of WolverhamptonWanderers striker Raul Jimenez or used both players together. His opinion on Javier Hernandez and Raul Jimenez was reported by TUDN as he said that Chicharito has better goalscoring instincts than Jimenez who has six goals and three assists in 28 Premier League games this season.
