CAN JIMENEZ BE ANOTHER HERNANDEZ?

Manchester United have been linked with a transfer move for Raul Jimenez after failing to land Erling Haaland. Haaland has been a monster hit at Borussia Dortmund, when he easily could have been lighting up Old Trafford. The club is not expected to hand a long-term deal to OdionIghalo as his loan deal runds down this summer.

Frenchman Anthony Martial has been inconsistent with banging in the required goals. Though Mason Greenwood can assist, United need a proven top scorer in the equation as well. When Ighalo leaves, Jimenez is the likely option.
The Mexican has been linked several times but now there is a clear justification. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not fed the speculations, but the impressive performance of the Wolves hitman sells him. He scored 13 goals in 29 games in the league following his permanent transfer from Benfica. The fans are expecting Jimenez to be another hit like Chicharito.

The former Real Madrid man scored 59 goals in 157 games, helping United win two Premier League titles. He would have to impress to get opportunities ahead of Martial and feature in the Europa League games.

The player confirmed that there was no release clause in his deal with the Wanderers, but the club would like to turn a profit at least after paying 40 million euros for his services. He has been a key member of Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, but he would be excited to join a Red Devils side that is youthful and being revamped for success. Hopefully he can be another Hernandez, poaching goals and warming his way into the heart of the fans.
